Tokyo Ride is essentially documentary chronicling the journey of Japanese architect Ryue Nishizawa as he glides around Tokyo in his Alfa Romeo Giulia, revisiting important places in his life, buildings of influence, and some of his own works.
The level of complexity in designing a building and an automobile are quite similar and both industries have been shaken up of late by social concerns and COVID-19. Perhaps that’s why the two are fascinating to experience, explore, and interact with especially when it’s an Alfa Romeo and Tokyo.
Created by celebrated urban filmmakers Bêka & Lemoine, the film is currently doing the rounds at multiple film festivals before being released to a wider audience. Check out the trailer.
