Connolly England has a rich history when it comes to creating leather goods. Having roots in the automotive industry by providing leather for Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar and Aston Martin the brand the brand eventually expanded into luxury goods.
Like many heritage retailers designing and crafting quality goods themselves, Connolly rode the wave of globalisation, and all the good and bad that came with it.
Having survived on and off over the years the brand was again reborn with careful consideration to its home on No.4 Clifford Street, London and the type of service it offers.
There’s still a connection to the automotive industry but the retail side of the business has branched out. What does remain is a commitment to quality despite most leather goods being made in Spain, arguably along wth Portugal one of the epicentres of leather goods production. Some items are still made in the UK and Italy however.
The Red Sports Grip with Badge gives off that heritage vibe with its logo types and heavy straps. The leather is crafted in Connolly’s famous car upholstery leather which may sound odd but this is where Connolly’s heritage lies, makes the bag robust, and given the clientele you wouldn’t question the quality.
Inside it features embroided lining, a laptop sleeve and other zip pockets with palladium plated solid brass hardware and embossing throughout.
The straps are there for extra security when traveling but also add a nice design touch. The bag also has an extra external strap so it can slide over a carry handle of a wheeled case as well as a hidden passport pocket.
Price: $2,373.00 AUD ($1,841.00 USD / £1,300.00 GBP)
