This Leica MP-2 just sold for 1.02 million Euros

The auction house Leitz Photographica Auction in Vienna just sold this ultra rare Leica MP black paint No. 2 for a record 1.02 million Euros. The No.2 was, unsurprisingly, Leica’s second MP ever built and the first to be finished in black paint with only 141 of the 412 produced in such a colour.

Launched in 1956 in Cologne, the MP is one of the rarest of all Leica models and is of course highly sought after.

As fast as the world is plunging into everything digital, it seems we still want to treasure the mechanical. Hurrah to that.
