It seems ever unlikely that supercars can continue their charge towards the finite goal of “faster”, yet here we are with the McLaren 765LT completing it’s performance target testing and going better than the projected figures.
How’s this then: under three seconds for 0-60mph and 0-100km/h, 0-200km/h (124mph) in just 7.0 seconds which is actually 0.2 seconds better than the target. The standing quarter-mile (400m) takes just 9.9 seconds again beating those projections.
The 765LT weighs 1,229kg at minimum dry weight and combined with the 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 765PS and 800Nm, those figures start to makes sense.
The MSO team are also showcasing what they can do by way of a customised paint schemes. The Strata theme is inspired by a city skyline and required 390 hours of hand painting and finishing. The Strata’s Azores orange base colour is fused with Memphis Red and Cherry black, the two overlay colours running through the paint scheme in opposite directions to meet and blend on the door panels.
The other paint scheme is called ‘GEOHEX’, a 3D honeycomb design using MSO Bespoke Tarmac Black and Tokyo Cyan paintwork with Visual Carbon Fibre components from the MSO Defined range.
We may be in a bit of a crisis, and there’s a lot of doom and gloom in the world but nobody told McLaren 765LT customers as the entire 2020 production run is sold-out and expressions of interest for 2021 now exceed total number of cars available. Boom!
