Sony have released new wireless speakers that produce ambient room-filling sound with their “Immersive Audio Enhancement and 360 Reality Audio”.
The SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000 models are pitched at creating an ambient sound to produce a calming atmosphere by spreading sound horizontally from wall-to-wall and vertically from floor-to-ceiling. Using Sony’s unique algorithm, 2-channel stereo tracks are transformed to give the desired results.
The benefits of 360 Reality Audio can be accessed through Sony’s streaming partner Tidal which customers will need to subscribe to if they want to continue using 360 Reality Audio. The recordings are made with three-dimensional sound location data and according to Sony there are around 4,000 songs available. Both speakers are also compatible with Spotify Connect.
By pressing the Audio Enhancement button, customers can activate a sound calibration to optimise the speaker for the particular room its in.
The RA5000 uses high-magnetism neodymium magnets and a mica reinforced cellular diaphragm to provide strength while keeping a small form size. Sound is sent vertically via a trio of speakers, while three other speakers send sound horizontally.
The RA3000 sends its omnidirectional sound using a full range speaker, an omni-diffuser for sending sound in every direction, and a dual passive radiator to produce deep bass. Tweeters send sound vertically. The RA3000 is smaller than the RA5000 and incorporates humidity resistance.
Both speakers can be used with a Google Assistant-enabled device with Chromecast built-in and Amazon Alexa enabled devices as well as being compatible with BRAVIA® televisions via Bluetooth connection.
